Two unremarkable figures are gathered around a bookcase. They are reading aloud a copy of "6 Memos for The Next Millenium" by Italo Calvino.
Character 1: If a straight line is the shortest distance between two fated and inevitable points, digressions will lengthen it.
Character 2: ...and if these digressions become so complex, so tangled and tortuous, so rapid as to hide their own tracks, who knows—
Character 1: ...perhaps death won't find us again.
